A new start for learnig Dhanda

"Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.”

On 13th of June when I came to Nitie, there was only one thing on my mind that in the following two years I am going to come up with a brilliant Business Plan and also gain a lot of business sense. The first 4 days were quite eventful with a lot of fun activities from IMPACT group (Group for facilitating the new batch 2013-15) which led to me getting to know people who such brilliant and diverse experiences. I realised that this was missing when I was working for more than 2 years meeting almost the same set of people every day.
The campus which is called the god’s own campus is truly the best place to be for learning and using it for earning. A not so small pond for taking small walks to relax and rejuvenate and stairs to get to the academic building are the best attraction to me.
The trimester started very well with all the professors starting sessions very focused on our development. The unusual part of this learning came in the lecture of Mr. T. Prasad (a.k.a. Prof. Mandi), our professor for Principles of Operations and Management. I was astounded by what I experienced in his lecture, he entered the lecture hall and sat on the floor, everyone in the room followed him. A completely new experience but what followed was even better. He started by first telling about him and then told us to ask him questions. Everyone was interested to know about NITIE Mandi, which he organises and the whole course of discussion took a new direction.
MANDI is an event where every year NITIEans go to the streets of Mumbai for achieving three objectives. To make a difference in the lives of thousands of children who lose out on basic education. It’s a real field classroom where NITIEans can practice concepts of Marketing, Principles of Management, Business Economics and Accounting. To denote the collected amount to the NGO Navnirmiti, that utilises this for education of many children.
After some discussion about Mandi (How it can be made bigger, how our new batch can reboot it after a gap of one year, etc) he showed us the products that were sold in Mandi.
Newton’s Cradle – A 5 ball pendulum which beautifully explains Newton’s third law, imparts both aesthetics and practical learning. The discussion about this product moved me to think about a simple product from different viewpoints by challenging how I normally perceive things. It was a good lesson.

Stress Relieving Squeeze Ball – A very simple product but imprinted with world map on its surface. That means it’s also a globe and gives the child who buys it, the joy of holding the world and at the same time learning about. A fantastic fusion of learning and play.

A butterfly whose centre of gravity is located at its mouth due to load distribution on its upper wings on both sides. Again a very simple but unique product.

In between all these fun products and a different style of teaching, the most important part was the importance of “earning while learning” and “learning while earning”. How to capitalize on an Idea? And the main aim of our course (PGDIM - Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Management).

By the end of this lecture I was sure that I’m at the right place and under right guidance to achieve what I’ve imagined to achieve before joining this course.

  Important Slogans Taught during Lecture:

Soacho.. Becho !  Becho.. Seekho ! !   Seekho .. Soacho ! ! !

Earning by Learning . & .Earning for Learning  !

Aaj Ki roti...Aaj hee,  kamyaenghae  !
